The Sliding Scale:A Tool of Economic Justice
Our fee structure is scaled based on your family’s income. The sliding scale represents the idea that financial resources, including income, are not and should not be the only determining factor in whether or not someone can access services/care/etc. This method allows folks who would most likely be priced out of something to have the chance to take part in it. It also seeks to address the systemic inequalities of class in our culture, something we at Collective Hearts feel passionately about.
We use the San Francisco AMI (Annual Median Income) chart to determine which price tier your family falls in. San Francisco is one of the most economically segregated cities in California and we aim to serve a wide range of families here in our home town. Find your family’s annual income and cross check it with the number of people in your household. That will give you a % of the AMI.
Our Birth Doula Fee:
under 80% AMI - $1900
80%-130% AMI - $2200
above 130% AMI - $2500
